In the third of four test matches in Córdoba, in which Argentina plays Spain twice and France twice, the French proved unable to keep up with with an eager and energetic home team, suffering a heavy 6-0 defeat.
After a resounding win in their first meeting last Wednesday, Argentina won 4-1, and today, their superiority was even clearer, especially taking into account that the six goals came from six different players.
Penalty corner expert Pedro Ibarra put the hosts on the scoreboard as early as the 4th minute, Santiago Montelli followed up with the second for Argentina midway through the first half, and Facundo Callioni piled on another from a short corner variation shortly before halftime. All the while, Argentina dictated play and didn't leave the French with much room to move.
The second half continued much in the same vein, and the home team eventually doubled its advantage, through goals from Lucas Cammareri, Lucas Rey and Matías Paredes.
The final match of the Córdoba test series will be played Sunday night against Spain, at 10pm. All three teams will move on to Rosario next week, where they will play more tests in the World Cup Stadium.
