As India inch closer to the start of their FIH Hockey Pro League 2024-25 campaign which begins on 15 February as they take on England in Bhubaneswar, we are excited to bring you an exclusive pre-season interview with captain Salima Tete.

The Indian Team is returning to the Pro League after finding success at the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy. Tell us about how the team has been preparing?

We are in the phase of rebuilding and with the recent success at the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy we are working on carrying forward this momentum. Our disappointment of not qualifying for the Paris Olympics is now behind us and we are truly looking forward to the start of the Olympic cycle with the Pro League.

Tell us about starting the campaign in your home ground in Bhubaneswar.

It’s a special venue for us. As a team we enjoy playing in Bhubaneswar and we feel fortunate that we are getting so many chances to play in front of our home crowd.

How important will the Pro League campaign be for your team, especially since it is a World Cup qualifying event now?

It’s great that we have an opportunity to qualify for the World Cup by finishing on the top of the Pro League. This just adds more excitement to the league. I’m sure all teams participating will be vying to earn their qualification through this event making it a challenging outing.
