In today's video we speak with Manuela Urroz of Chile, following her team's bronze medal finish at the third edition of the FIH Hockey Women's Nations Cup Chile 2025! Watch the video below to find out more...
Even though you did not reach the final, your team played really well and games against the bronze medal in the nations cup. Does it give you hope for the future?
Yes, for sure. I think it was a really good tournament for us. We reached third place. We're really proud about it, even though we didn't make it to the final. But, of course, we wanted to qualify for the Pro League, but we're really happy with the result. And with our team is hopeful for the future.
How was it to play such an important international tournament in front of your fans?
It was amazing. We were really lucky to have all our fans, family, friends supporting us during this tournament. We're really lucky also to have a great work from our federation that made us be, host for this tournament. And we hope to also have more tournaments here.
Your team seems to be purely on the rise since a couple of years. Is that your impression, too?
Well, yes, last few years have been really good for Chilean hockey and we can be really proud of our last results. And I think it comes from the hard work of the whole team staff, federation and also, we are really convinced of what we are reaching for our goals and dreams.
What was it like to meet and interact with a global hockey icon like Luciana Aymar during the tournament?
It was a really nice surprise to have Luciana Aymar in the stands during the last days. She was an amazing player. I think most of our team looked up to her when we were young, so it was really nice to have her and share a moment with her.
Chile will be hosting the FIH Hockey Women's Junior World Cup later this year. Any word of advice for the Chile junior team playing in it?
Later this year, our junior team will have the opportunity to be the host for the World Cup. My advice for them will be to just enjoy this amazing experience. They will have also their family, friends, their Chilean fans supporting them, also the Las Diablas as the senior team. And of course, represent the best you can for our country.
