From 29 January to 2 February 2025, the best junior men’s and women’s hockey teams from Oceania will compete in the Auckland, New Zealand in the Oceania Junior World Cup Qualifier, with three men’s and three women’s spots up for grabs in the upcoming FIH Junior Hockey World Cup 2025, to be played in India (men’s) and Chile (women’s), with an expanded competition format that will feature 24 teams in each competition for the very first time!
In the men’s competition, it will be New Zealand, Australia, Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea scrapping for the three spots available from Oceania in the FIH Junior Hockey Men’s World Cup India 2025.
The four teams will play in a round robin format, with each side playing the other three once, with a win earning three points, a tie securing one point for each team, while the losing team in a contest takes no points.
At the end of the round robin stage, the top two teams on the points table play in the final, with both teams guaranteed a spot in the upcoming Junior World Cup. The bronze medal match will be a high stakes encounter as well, with the winning team qualifying for the World Cup, at the expense of the losing team, who finish in the final position.
In the women’s competition New Zealand, Australia and Solomon Islands will compete for the title, however all three teams have already qualified for the upcoming FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup Chile 2025, which will be an expanded edition, featuring 24 teams for the very first time.

Belgium, England, France, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Austria and Switzerland have qualified from Europe. Argentina, Canada and Chile have qualified from the Americas. Pakistan, China, Bangladesh, Japan, Malaysia and Thailand secured qualification from Asia. Following the three qualifiers from Junior Oceania Cup, three more teams from Africa will qualify for the World Cup to complete the qualification process over the next few months.
The FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup 2025 will be played in Santiago, Chile. Chile have qualified as the hosts of the competition. Argentina, Uruguay, United States and Canada have qualified from the Americas. Belgium, England, Germany, Netherlands, Spain, Ireland, Wales and Scotland have qualified from Europe. India, China, Japan, Korea and Malaysia secured qualification from Asia. Following the three qualifiers from Junior Oceania Cup, three more teams from Africa will qualify for the World Cup to complete the qualification process over the next few months.
