From 6-8 September, FIH President Tayyab Ikram held a series of fruitful meetings with the FIH staff and the members of Committees: Competitions, Education, Medical, Officials, Rules and Umpiring. Furthermore, crucial meetings were also held with the CEOs of the Continental Federations catching them up with the updates on the state of Hockey around the world.
The topics discussed included the major upcoming events which include the FIH Hockey Men's and Women's Junior World Cups which are to be played in November and December 2023. The meetings also included conversations on the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers and the inaugural FIH Hockey5s World Cup, both of which will take place in January 2024. Lastly, the new seasons of the FIH Hockey Pro League and the second edition of the FIH Hockey Nations Cup were discussed.
Conversations also focused around the Olympic Games with Paris 2024 on the horizon. The continuation of the preparations for the Los Angeles Olympic Games in 2028 were also discussed in detail.
Smaller working groups were created to maximise the scope of discussion on a broader range of topics including sustainability, education and the various formats of Hockey. The ideas generated from the working groups will go a long way in lighting the path for the future of Hockey around the globe.
